D: Gianfranco, negli ultimi tempi si parla molto di Intelligenza Artificiale. Lei come la utilizza nel suo lavoro di artista orafo?

R: Credo che l’AI, se utilizzata nel modo giusto, sia uno strumento formidabile. Nel mio caso specifico mi permette di trasformare un’idea che ho in testa in un’immagine concreta in pochissimo tempo. È come avere un ponte diretto tra fantasia e realtà.

D: Quindi possiamo dire che l’AI diventa un alleato della sua creatività?

R: Assolutamente sì. Io ho sempre avuto fantasia e creatività, ma spesso il passaggio dall’idea alla visualizzazione richiede tempo, prove, schizzi. Con l’AI, invece, riesco a vedere subito quello che immagino: un anello, un ciondolo, un bracciale,un orologio,una linea di abbigliamento o di scarpe persino un’intera collezione. È un acceleratore creativo incredibile.

D: Qual è l’aspetto che apprezza di più in questa tecnologia?

R: La velocità. Siccome sono anche amministratore della mia società, il tempo a disposizione non è molto. L’AI mi permette di ottimizzare i processi: io metto la visione artistica, il concetto, la direzione estetica; l’AI mi restituisce subito un’immagine di partenza che poi posso perfezionare con la mia esperienza artigianale.

D: Qualcuno teme che l’AI possa togliere spazio alla manualità e all’unicità dell’arte. Lei cosa ne pensa?

R: Per me è esattamente l’opposto: l’AI non sostituisce la mano dell’artista, la esalta. Rimane l’uomo al centro, con le sue idee e il suo stile. L’AI è un supporto, non un sostituto. In fondo, la differenza la fa sempre la sensibilità dell’artista, la sua capacità di dare senso, valore e anima a un’opera.

D: In che modo pensa che questa tecnologia cambierà il mondo dell’arte orafa?

R: Penso che stia già aprendo nuove strade. Permette di essere più rapidi, più sperimentali, di osare. Ma alla fine il gioiello resta un oggetto prezioso fatto di materia, pietre, metallo, lavorazione artigianale. L’AI è il compagno di viaggio che mi aiuta a mostrare al mondo, e prima ancora a me stesso, ciò che immagino.

The future of jewelry art? Man at the center, AI as a travel companion.

Q: Gianfranco, lately there’s been a lot of talk about Artificial Intelligence. How do you use it in your work as a goldsmith artist?

A: I believe that AI, if used in the right way, is a formidable tool. In my case, it allows me to turn an idea I have in mind into a concrete image in no time. It’s like having a direct bridge between imagination and reality.

Q: So we can say that AI becomes an ally of your creativity?

A: Absolutely yes. I’ve always had imagination and creativity, but the transition from idea to visualization often required time, sketches, and trials. With AI, I can immediately see what I imagine: a ring, a pendant, a bracelet, a watch, even a line of shoes or an entire collection. It’s an incredible creative accelerator.

Q: What aspect do you appreciate the most about this technology?

A: Speed. Since I am also the administrator of my company, my available time is limited. AI allows me to optimize processes: I bring the artistic vision, the concept, the aesthetic direction; AI instantly gives me a starting image, which I can then refine with my artisanal experience.

Q: Some fear that AI might take away space from craftsmanship and the uniqueness of art. What’s your view?

A: For me it’s exactly the opposite. AI does not replace the artist’s hand, it enhances it. Man remains at the center, with his ideas and his style. AI is a support, not a substitute. In the end, the difference always lies in the artist’s sensitivity — his ability to give meaning, value, and soul to a work.

Q: In what way do you think this technology will change the world of jewelry art?

A: I think it’s already opening new paths. It allows us to be faster, more experimental, to dare more. But in the end, jewelry remains a precious object made of matter, stones, metal, and artisanal work. AI is the travel companion that helps me show the world — and first of all myself — what I imagine.
